Studio Jackaroo

More and more, always further, constantly ahead. We are surrounded by fast systems, fixed patterns, pre-programmed choices. But do we all fit in? Do we all want to walk the same way?

Thoughts that take up Jacky’s time on her daily walks. She enjoys the outdoors and, while walking, she pays attention to the smallest details. In the meantime she also reflects on our crooked interaction with nature; we destroy while we should cherish. In her work Geurts seeks a way between these sensations. She wants to do justice, both to the beauty of nature and to express her concern about its loss through human behavior. Glass is her favorite material. Red-hot while working at the burner. Seductive and vulnerable result, with the imperfections of handicraft. For Geurts, of course, no mass production.

With her studio in Beugen she is almost a neighbor of Alarm / the MvAT. Close to home she shows her own teeming world this summer, where it is crawling under the surface. Jacky Geurts vegital system ONCE… you know where to watch and see is on display from July 8  until August 25.
